There are several things you can do to prepare for registration with CRNMPEI prior to moving to Canada.

You may begin your application for registration with CRNMPEI whenever you are ready and pay the $100 application fee and $400 processing fee for international documents.

A criminal record check with vulnerable sector is a legal requirement for nursing registration in PEI. We require that you to obtain a criminal record check with vulnerable sector from the police agency in each place you have lived in the previous two years and from your country of origin. Criminal record checks must have been issued within the previous month. You must upload your criminal record check(s) in the College application portal and then send the original copy of the criminal record check(s) to CRNMPEI -- this prevents a delay in your application process. We can copy and return the original/s to you, but you must make that request when you are sending the documents.

Please review the NCSBN website for information about the NCLEX-RN exam test plan. There you will find detailed information about exam content areas. NCSBN also offers an online course (optional) to help you prepare for the exam. This is only one example of the many resources available to help you prepare to take the exam. The Canadian Council of Registered Nurse Regulators (CCRNR) website has information about the exam and resources to help students prepare to take the NCLEX-RN exam. The Canadian Nurses Association website also provides a detailed list of many other resources which you may find helpful.

The NCLEX-RN exam is an online, computer adaptive exam. You may need to travel to a permanent test center in another Canadian province or in the United States to take the exam, as PEI has a temporary test center which only normally operates in February and June each year. As of December 2016, candidates can take the NCLEX-RN exam every 45 days within 3 years from the date that the educational requirements have been met. There is no limit on the number of attempts.
